Ian Belton’s research expertise centres on the theory and practice of human judgment and decision making at both the individual and group level. He has conducted decision-making research in a range of applied contexts including strategic management, risk and reliability evaluations, the criminal justice system and the defence and security sectors. He also has substantial experience of scenario-based foresight methods as a researcher, lecturer and practitioner. Ian’s work involves using both quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as mixed methods designs. He believes in applying a pragmatic approach to data collection and analysis with the aim of obtaining satisfying answers to interesting and important research questions.
