Emma Liu
Co-Investigator, University College London
Emma is a volcanologist and a Lecturer in the Department of Earth Sciences at University College London since 2019. Her research interests focus on understanding how magmatic volatiles control eruptive behaviour and environmental impact. Developing novel strategies to collect gas samples directly from eruption plumes using unoccupied aerial systems (drones) has been key to unlocking her new insights into volcanic processes. Emma will apply her experience with drone-based monitoring of eruption plumes, especially with local communities, to Sikuttiaq ice mapping and drone-pilot training with SmartICE staff.
